Why choose Steve Matteo Photography?
Steve Matteo Because I have taken my 15 years of experience working for top media companies like the Associated Press, Getty Images, and HBO and created a wedding photography and portraiture business based on capturing your emotions and your story as naturally as possible. When we work together to document your wedding, you receive beautiful, candid, and original wedding photographs that will bring you joy for the rest of your life.
What about the cost and my budget?
Photography is an art form and an investment that lasts a lifetime. My photography services are competitively priced and I hope you understand that I also have a budget. Over the years, I have invested heavily in my business with education, equipment, and studio space, among other things, because I know that creating moving, beautiful wedding photos and portraits takes the right tools and a willingness to devote time, energy, and money into my business. The rates I charge for my photography reflect my devotion to my craft.

Who will be photographing my wedding?
Steve Matteo I will always be the lead photographer at your wedding. Depending on the size and scope of your ceremony and reception, I may bring on an experienced associate or second photographer to ensure you get the coverage your event deserves.
How much time should I book with my photographer?
That’s up to you, but my years of experience photographing weddings has taught me that trying to squeeze in too many ‘magic moments’ into too little time can make your wedding day more stressful than it needs to be. I recommend that you book enough time to ensure proper coverage of your event – including the time we spend getting creative. If you’re interested in taking on-location urban portraits around the city or having me available for the last dance, plan accordingly.
How many photos will be taken on my wedding day?
This will depend on the size and duration of the event. Generally, an 8 hour day produces between 1000-1500 frames.
Should I make a list of my desired photos for the wedding photographer?
The photojournalistic style of wedding photos that is my hallmark is all about capturing the day – that means no forced posing and prints that reflect the emotions, beauty, and vitality of the wedding itself. It is my goal to use photography to tell the story of your wedding day, unscripted, so I don’t typically work from a shot list. However, please feel free to request group or family photos throughout the day.
Do you take groups shots, both bridal party & family?
Most brides and grooms want at least a few shots that show off the grandeur and happiness of the wedding party and immediate family on the big day. Before your wedding, we can discuss the amount of time needed for these special portraits, but I recommend dedicating at least one hour to this type of photo. Additionally, make sure that the people who will appear in these photos will be present during the allotted time.
Do you set up a backdrop and take couple photographs at the reception?
I want to tell the story of your wedding in photographs, so I shy away from posed formal shots that take you out of the moment. At your wedding, I will candidly photograph as many guest having fun, talking, embracing, and dancing as possible while also capturing your special moments. But if you want to be absolutely sure certain family members or friends appear in photographs, please let me know.
Do I get digital files of the photos from my wedding so I can print them myself or have them printed elsewhere?
Yes, you will receive all the images from your wedding day with printing rights.
Are the wedding proofs marked, stamped or do they have the copyright logo on the wedding photos.
No, all images are ready for print.
Who owns the copyright to these photos?
The photographer retains copyright to all images he or she creates. You may print and copy them as much as you’d like.
What type of equipment will be used?
Professional, Hi-Res digital SLR cameras by Nikon and Canon are used.
Can we choose color or b/w?
You will receive all photos in color and a copy of each image in b/w.
When will I receive my wedding photos?
Hi-Res Photo DVDs of your wedding photos will be shipped with 60 days.
Is there a deposit and when is the final payment due?
A 25%, non-refundable deposit is needed to reserve your wedding day photographer(s). An additional 25% will be due 90 days later and the balance 2 weeks prior to the wedding.
What about fees for travel, hotel or car rental?
There are no travel charges for weddings within the Chicago area (50 miles). Weddings outside of this area are subject to $150 fee for travel. Additional fees will depend on the location and circumstance discussed in advance of your wedding. Steve Matteo Photography is available for destination weddings worldwide. Please contact me for more destination wedding detail.
What else is required by the photographer?
I ask that couples pay my parking fees, as necessary, and that a hot meal be provided for me and for any assistants during your reception’s dinner hour. Please make arrangements for this with your catering company or venue to avoid any confusion.
