Even though this has been one of the worst winters in memory, Matt picked a perfect winter day to propose Mandy.
The surprise engagement took place on the bridge at Nature Boardwalk in Lincoln Park.
Matt and I planned the event a few weeks earlier including the time and exact location where the proposal would take place. The bridge, their favorite spot in town, has a great view of the city so bumping into a professional photographer wouldn’t create any suspicion.
After shooting some engagement portraits, the couple went out to celebrate with family and friends.
My remote camera captured Mandy saying yes!
The bride always wanted a fairytale winter wedding, complete with snow and a castle. On January 4, 2014 her dream came true! I had the pleasure of capturing the day as the wedding photographer for Sarah and Michael who were married at St. Francis of Assisi in Orland Park, IL.
Coverage began that morning at the Lisa Thomas Salon where the bride and bridesmaids were getting prepped and their reception took place at Meyer’s Castle in Dyer, Indiana.
It was a snowy day indeed and as a photojournalist who spent many a day shooting outside, I was prepared for the cold and fun.
When you are a wedding photographer in Chicago, you’re always prepared for anything, including frosty weather. So for Liza & Nate’s wedding on December 7th, I was ready for action.
The day began at the Fairmont Hotel where I focused on the bride and bridesmaids getting ready process. Next the bride and groom had their first glance before they braved the cold at Millennium Park for a few portraits.
The all in one wedding took place at the Mid America Club inside the Aon Center, a great venue with spectacular views of the city.

Jen & Izzy had an intimate exchange of vows and dinner party to celebrate their wedding on October 26th. I had recently taken their friend’s engagement photos so they contacted me to be their
Chicago wedding photographer.
Since the newlyweds had a place with a terric view of the south loop, we used a beautiful sunset to create some wonderful portraits.
The exchange of vows and reception was held at Germania Place in Chicago.
Rebecca and Kyle were married October 19, 2013 at Holy Family Church in Chicago. I first met Rebecca in 2009 while working as her sister’s wedding photographer and took their engagement portraits earlier this year.
Both bride and groom were getting ready at the Hyatt Regency Chicago before heading to the ceremony. After a brief stop for bridal party portraits, we arrived at Gallery 1028 for the reception.
What began as a nice walk on Lighthouse Beach in Evanston ended as a surprise engagement when Mark proposed to Theresa. As a long time photojournalist, I arrived at the beach early to stake out a nice view of the upcoming proposal. Mark and I had a plan to capture the emotion of the moment and it worked out great! Afterward, he pointed to me in the distance, sitting on a lifeguard’s perch catching all the action.
We ended the day with some wonderful engagement portraits.
Mia and Mark were married September 14, 2013 at the Highland Park Country Club . This was my first trip there as a wedding photographer so I was eager to take advantage of the new surroundings.
With an all in one wedding and a very nice sunset, we worked together to capture some wonderful memories of the day.
It sure has been a busy season for engagement portraits in Chicago. Last week I worked with Christine and Jason who booked me as their 2014 Chicago wedding photographer too.
We took portraits downtown and along the Chicago River and even used Lakeshore Dr. as a backdrop.

Vivian and Sam booked me for their engagement portraits at the Alfred Caldwell Lilly Pond in Chicago. After working the pond, we walked over to the lake front at Fullerton and used the Chicago Skyline as a backdrop.
